Functional Capacity Evaluations

Functional Capacity Evaluations (FCE), or Physical Abilities Testing, are defined as a set of tests, practices and observations that are combined to determine the ability to function in a variety of circumstances, most often employment, in an objective manner.

Functional Capacity Evaluations in the corporate setting evaluates an individual’s capacity to perform work activities related to his or her participation in employment.  The FCE process compares the individual’s health status and body functions and structures the demands of the job and the work environment.  In essence, an FCE’s primary purpose is to evaluate a person’s ability to work or perform a specific job.
